Emirates Announces Colombo among first 9 destinations to join Emirates’ A350 network

Emirates, one of the world’s premier airlines, has announced the introduction of a fourth daily flight to Colombo, Sri Lanka, commencing on January 1, 2025, as part of its expanding global network. This new service, originally planned to be operated by the highly anticipated Airbus A350, will now temporarily feature Boeing aircraft due to delays in the delivery of the A350s. Despite this delay, Emirates remains committed to enhancing its services to Colombo, ensuring the best possible experience for passengers on this popular route.

Colombo has been chosen as one of the first destinations to experience the Airbus A350 once it enters service, marking a significant milestone in Emirates’ dedication to the Sri Lankan market. While the A350 deliveries are delayed, the airline has confirmed that Colombo will be among the first cities to benefit from the new generation of aircraft by January 2025. This underscores Emirates’ long-standing commitment to Sri Lanka, providing travelers with even greater connectivity and comfort options.

The new fourth daily service, designated as EK654/655, will be flown by Boeing aircraft until the Airbus A350 becomes available in early 2025. This decision ensures that the expansion of Emirates’ services to Colombo will not be disrupted. The fourth daily flight adds more flexibility for passengers traveling to and from Sri Lanka, enhancing the overall travel experience by offering more convenient schedules and increased flight availability.

As part of its extensive fleet expansion plans, Emirates expects to receive 10 Airbus A350 aircraft by March 31, 2025. These cutting-edge aircraft will feature three cabin classes: Business Class, Premium Economy, and Economy Class, all equipped with Emirates’ latest signature cabin designs and in-flight amenities. The A350 aircraft will include 32 next-generation Business Class seats, 21 Premium Economy seats, and 259 Economy Class seats, offering an exceptional travel experience for passengers in all categories.
