The Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism’s “Dubai Tourism Sector 2024 Performance Report” provides a comprehensive view of the emirate’s monthly visitor numbers, showcasing the city’s strong appeal to global travelers. In November, Dubai welcomed an impressive 1.83 million visitors, marking one of the year’s peak months for arrivals. January and February also demonstrated robust performance, with 1.77 million and 1.9 million arrivals, respectively, underscoring the emirate’s popularity during the cooler months.
The mid-year months showed a seasonal dip, reflecting the impact of the summer heat on travel trends. March and April recorded 1.51 million and 1.5 million arrivals, respectively, while numbers tapered to 1.44 million in May. Visitor numbers declined further in June, with 1.19 million arrivals, before slightly rebounding in July and August, each attracting 1.31 million visitors. This period highlights the city’s consistent appeal despite seasonal challenges, aided by indoor attractions and family-friendly summer offerings.
As the year progressed, Dubai’s visitor numbers gained momentum, aligning with the return of cooler weather and major events. September recorded 1.36 million arrivals, while October saw a significant increase to 1.67 million visitors. This trend continued into November, as the emirate capitalized on its vibrant calendar of activities, world-class hospitality, and strategic global connectivity. The report reaffirms Dubai’s position as a leading global destination, consistently attracting millions of visitors throughout the year.
In the first 11 months of last year, hotel room bookings surpassed 39.19 million, marking a 3% rise compared to the same period in 2023, which recorded 38.01 million bookings.
During this time, the average guest stay extended to 3.6 nights.
Dubai’s 5-star hotel offerings reached 53,977 rooms across 168 properties, comprising 35% of the city’s total hotel accommodations. Meanwhile, 4-star hotels provided 43,345 rooms in 194 establishments.
Hotels rated between one and three stars accounted for 29,701 rooms spread across 278 properties. Luxury hotel apartments offered 13,944 units in 80 establishments, while mid-range hotel apartments included 12,423 units across 108 locations, according to the report.
