Dubai Metro will run for 43 consecutive hours for New Year’s celebrations

The Roads and Transport Authority of Dubai has announced that the Dubai Metro will be running for 43 consecutive hours next week.

Extended hours for the Dubai Metro will allow people to party all night long during the New Year’s festivities.

The New Year’s Eve Dubai Metro hours will start from 5am on Tuesday December 31 and not stop until the end of Wednesday January 1.

The RTA has introduced the extra hours to encourage people to stay off the roads during the busy festivities.

In addition to the extended Metro hours, the Dubai Tram will also have extended hours with it running from 6am on New Year’s Eve until 1am on Thursday January 2.

The Dubai Metro is one of the easiest ways to get around the city and goes past some of the most popular landmarks in the emirate, including the Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa.

Burj Khalifa is set to host one of the world’s biggest New Year’s Eve celebrations with a nine-minute show featuring fireworks, lights, lasers and the fountain.

Tickets have *just* sold out for the event but you’re still able to grab a table at one of the many restaurants with clear views of the spectacular show.

Dubai has become a massively popular tourist destination during the festive season with its attractive climate, many things to do and spectacular New Year’s Eve celebrations bringing hundreds of thousands of visitors to DXB during December.

While the Dubai Metro operating hours will be extended during this time, Sheikh Zayed Road is expected to be closed during the festivities.

But the RTA has also announced that 1,400 buses will be available free-of-charge during the festivities so there will be plenty of ways to get around.

Additional parking spaces will also be made available next week.

The plans were announced by Hussain Al Bana, the Director of Traffic at the RTA, on Tuesday December 24.
