Dubai Airshow 2025 Opens with Spectacular Day 1 Flying Display Featuring Fighters, Widebodies and eVTOL Debut

The Dubai Airshow 2025 opened its first day with a powerful three-hour flying display, bringing together elite fighter jets, next-generation commercial aircraft and a historic eVTOL demo that marked a first for the event.

The Dubai Airshow 2025 kicked off with an energetic Day 1 flying display that showcased a blend of military might, commercial innovation and futuristic air mobility. Approved by Brigadier General Abdulnasir Al Hameedi, the three-hour-and-forty-minute programme delivered one highlight after another, drawing thousands of aviation enthusiasts to the Dubai World Central airfield.

The show began at 13:30 with the traditional UAE Formation Flypast, followed by a 29-minute performance from the national aerobatic team, Fursan Al Emarat, known for their precision and trademark golden smoke trails.

One of the most anticipated moments of the day came at 14:06, when Joby Aviation’s eVTOL aircraft made its Dubai Airshow debut—marking the first time an electric air taxi has featured in the flying programme. This milestone firmly positioned the UAE as a leader in the future of urban air mobility.

The military segment featured a powerful lineup of modern air combat platforms, including the Dassault Rafale, a B-52 flypast, and a 15-minute demonstration by the F-35, showcasing fifth-generation manoeuvres. The UAE Air Force’s F-16, the USAF F-16, Russia’s Su-57, India’s HAL Tejas, and regional performers like the Mirage 2000-9, KA-52, and Bader 250 added to the intensity of the afternoon programme.

Commercial aviation also had a strong presence. Boeing presented the 777X at 14:44, drawing attention with its signature folding wingtips. China’s COMAC C919, a rising competitor in the single-aisle market, flew at 15:30, while Airbus took the spotlight at 16:20 with its A350 widebody aircraft.

Other key highlights included India’s Surya Kiran aerobatic team performing a 30-minute routine, followed by a brief showcase of the P-8 Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft.

The day concluded with a 30-minute performance by Marche Verte from 16:40 to 17:10, closing the Day 1 programme on a dynamic and colourful note.

Dubai Airshow 2025’s opening day set a high benchmark with its mix of advanced technology, global military representation and historic debuts—promising an action-packed week ahead.
