Dubai has secured the eighth position globally and leads in the Middle East in the Global Power City Index (GPCI) 2024. This marks the second consecutive year for this achievement. The index, published by Japan’s Mori Memorial Foundation, underscores Dubai’s prominence in innovation, economic vitality, and global connectivity. This distinction positions Dubai as the sole Middle Eastern city in the top 10, solidifying its status as a key global hub for business, talent, and investment.
“Dubai continues to redefine what is possible, combining innovation, sustainability, and a focus on nurturing talent,” stated Sheikh Hamdan. He is the Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai. His remarks highlight the city’s commitment to progress and excellence.
Global Power City Index Criteria
The GPCI assesses major cities based on their “magnetism,” or their ability to attract people, capital, and enterprises worldwide. It evaluates six functions: Economy, Research and Development, Cultural Interaction, Livability, Environment, and Accessibility. This comprehensive approach provides a multidimensional ranking of cities globally.
Sheikh Hamdan emphasized several factors contributing to Dubai’s success. The city’s world-class infrastructure plays a crucial role in attracting global investment and top talent. Additionally, Dubai’s flexible and progressive legislative framework is designed to foster innovation and adapt to evolving global trends.
Public-Private Partnerships
