Former Australia cricketer David Warner has been charged with drink-driving following an incident in Sydney.
Authorities from the New South Wales Police confirmed that a 39-year-old man was taken into custody on Sunday after failing a random breath test in Maroubra, located in eastern Sydney.
According to police, the driver later recorded a second positive result at a station, with a blood alcohol level measured at more than twice the legal limit allowed in New South Wales.
In an official statement, police said a van appeared to stop before reaching the testing point and parked nearby. Officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command then approached the vehicle and conducted a roadside breath test, which returned a positive reading.
The driver was subsequently arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station, where a follow-up test reportedly showed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.104.
Warner has been charged with a mid-range prescribed concentration of alcohol offence, which applies in New South Wales to drivers with a blood alcohol level between 0.08 and 0.149.
He is scheduled to appear in court on May 7.
The 39-year-old, who stepped away from international cricket in 2024, is currently leading the Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League. The team is set to face Peshawar Zalmi in their next match on April 9.
