Colombo, Feb. 21 (Daily Mirror) – The Sri Lanka junior girls’ and boy’s qualified to the quarter finals of Billy Jean King Cup for girls’ and the Junior Davis Cup for boy’s when they came out victorious against Maldives and Iraq in their second match of the tournament played at the SLTA tennis courts in Greenpath, Colombo.

The girls’ coasted to a comfortable two sets to nil with Ivanka Samarasinghe and Dinara de Silva winning their singles matches with ease and the boys’ underwent a defeat in one of the singles encounters with Ganuka Fernando winning the first singles and Lithum Jayabandu undergoing a defeat. But Jayabandu made amends when he partnered Fernando to come out on in the doubles event to give Sri Lanka a two sets to one victory. The two Sri Lankan teams are scheduled to play the quarter encounters tomorrow.

Biilly Jean King Cup

Girls – Sri Lanka beat Maldives

Ivanka Samarasinghe (Sri Lanka) beat Nishan Naba (Maldives) 2-0 (6/1, 6/2). Dinara de Silva (Sri Lanka) beat Azim Aaraa (Maldives) 2-0 (6/2, 8/2).

Junior Davis Cup:

Sri Lanka beat Iraq 2-1

Singles – Ganuka Fernando (Sri Lanka) beat Shammama Faisac (Iraq) 2-0 (6/1, 6/2). Bakr Akam (Iraq) beat Lithum Jayabandu (Sri Lanka) 2-0 (6/3, 6/2).

Doubles – Ganuka Fernando/Lithum Jayabandu (Sri Lanka) beat Shammama Faisac/ Bakr Akam (Iraq) 2-0 )6/2, 6/1).
