Cricketers Mitchell Starc, Alyssa Healy score $8.5m in North Curl Curl

[ad_1]

Cricket power couple Alyssa Healy and Mitchell Starc discovered the upside to discounting their house price expectations this week when they sold their North Curl Curl designer home on Tuesday, days out from the scheduled auction for this weekend.

The five-bedroom residence failed to sell last year when it was listed for $9 million, but attracted no bids when it went to auction in November.

Neither James Eyden nor Michael Clarke, of Clarke & Humel Property, would comment on the result, but had taken over the listing last month with a revised guide of $8 million, and a local industry source said it sold on Tuesday for substantially more than the guide, likely about $8.5 million.

It was due to go to auction this Saturday.

It was designed by architect Koichi Takada on behalf of former Miss Universe-turned-developer Jennifer Hawkins and her builder husband Jake Wall, who had sold it to cricket’s golden couple in 2016 for $5.235 million.

It wasn’t the first high-end house flip by Hawkins and Wall. In 2014, the couple sold another of their Koichi Takada-designed houses for $4.1 million to former Fortescue Metals chief executive Elizabeth Gaines and her husband Kevin Manuel.

Starc and Healy are heading to the Forest District where last year they smashed all local price records when they purchased an estate in Terrey Hills called Charlotte Park for $24.5 million from Simone and Darren Mills, the co-founder of luxury home building firm Cadence.

Funding the home upgrade won’t just be the sale of their North Curl Curl home. In December, Starc broke the record for an Australian cricketer when he was purchased for $4.42 million at the Indian Premier League auction by Kolkata Knight Riders.
