Backed by a Rs. 5 billion budget, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s “Clean Sri Lanka” initiative is set to launch 34 new development projects aimed at driving nationwide social and environmental reform.
The government’s flagship initiative, “Clean Sri Lanka,” led by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, is gearing up to launch 34 new projects this year, with many expected to commence by the end of April.
A preparatory workshop was held on April 10 at the “Clean Sri Lanka” Secretariat, housed in the Lotus Building at Temple Trees. The one-day session, chaired by Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, offered technical guidance on preparing project proposals in line with the Department of National Planning’s required formats for review and approval.
The “Clean Sri Lanka” programme is designed to foster a nationwide transformation, promoting social responsibility, environmental sustainability, and ethical governance. The initiative calls for inclusive participation from all sectors of society to ensure its long-term success.
To support the ambitious rollout, the 2025 national budget has allocated Rs. 5 billion towards its implementation, reflecting the government’s strong commitment to building a cleaner, more responsible Sri Lanka.
