CK Tim Hortons Raises $24,000 for Special Olympics Canada

Tim Hortons restaurants across Chatham-Kent have raised an impressive $24,000 in support of Special Olympics Canada, thanks to the generosity of local donut lovers.

The funds were collected through Tim Hortons’ Special Olympics Donut campaign, which ran from January 30 to February 1. During the three-day initiative, 100 per cent of the proceeds from each Special Olympics specialty donut sold were donated to the cause.

Nationwide, the campaign raised a remarkable $1.3 million, marking another successful year for the annual fundraiser — now in its seventh year.

Gail Hamamoto, CEO of Special Olympics Canada, said the initiative highlights the power of inclusion and community support.

“This campaign shows what’s possible when Canadians choose to include,” she said. “Every Special Olympics Donut purchased helps open doors for athletes of all ages and abilities across the country, fueling confidence, connection and opportunity through sport.”

The funds raised will go toward supporting year-round inclusive sports programs for more than 40,000 athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities across Canada.

Local participation in Chatham-Kent played a vital role in contributing to this national effort, once again demonstrating how small acts — like buying a donut — can make a meaningful difference.
