COLOMBO, August 2, 2025 – In a landmark moment for Sri Lanka’s tourism and entertainment sectors, City of Dreams Sri Lanka has officially opened its doors today, becoming South Asia’s first integrated resort.
The US$1.2 billion mega-development, formerly known as Cinnamon Life Integrated Resort, is a flagship project by John Keells Holdings (JKH) in collaboration with global casino and hospitality giant Melco Resorts and Entertainment Limited. The official opening is marked by the presence of Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan, adding glamour to this highly anticipated launch.
A pre-opening dinner held last night was attended by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, where the resort’s name change and official opening were announced.
The resort is designed to redefine Colombo’s skyline and position the city as a premier destination for leisure, entertainment, and luxury retail. Its final phase includes several world-class attractions:
- A 180,000 square foot casino, developed and outfitted by Melco Resorts, which has invested approximately US$125 million into the facility.
- The luxurious 113-key Nüwa hotel, occupying the top five floors of the tower, offering ultra-premium hospitality under Melco’s high-end brand already renowned in Macau and the Philippines.
- A premium shopping mall, adding a new dimension to Colombo’s luxury retail scene.
Melco’s wholly-owned subsidiary has secured a 20-year casino operating license from the Sri Lankan government, with the casino space leased from JKH’s Waterfront Properties.
With this launch, City of Dreams Sri Lanka is set to elevate Colombo as a regional entertainment and tourism hub, offering a blend of luxury, excitement, and international appeal never before seen in the region.
