Chelsea have officially appointed Liam Rosenior as their new head coach, signing him to a six-and-a-half-year contract running until 2032. Rosenior joins the Blues from Strasbourg, taking over following the departure of Enzo Maresca, who left the club on New Year’s Day due to differences with the hierarchy.
Rosenior expressed his excitement about the role, saying: “I am deeply honoured and humbled to be named head coach of Chelsea Football Club. This is a club with a remarkable spirit and a proud history of winning silverware.”
His first match in charge will be Chelsea’s FA Cup third-round clash against Championship side Charlton Athletic on Saturday. Meanwhile, Callum McFarlane, who managed Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Manchester City, will oversee Wednesday’s Premier League fixture against Fulham, with Rosenior observing from the stands.
Speaking ahead of the Fulham game, McFarlane said fans can expect “aggressive, front-foot football” under Rosenior. “I spoke with Liam briefly last night,” he added. “He is really excited to take on this role and bring his vision to the team.”
