Athapaththu’s unbeaten 119 runs came off just 69 deliveries, featuring 14 boundaries and 7 sixes. Her exceptional performance led Sri Lanka to a commanding total of 184/4 in their 20 overs. Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Athapaththu’s decision paid off as she steered her team to a semi-final spot in the tournament.

Hosts Sri Lanka started their campaign with a dominating seven-wicket victory over Bangladesh Women on Saturday (20), showcasing their strong form.
Facing Malaysia in their latest match, Sri Lanka’s playing eleven included Vishmi Gunaratne, Harshitha Samarawickrama, Kavisha Dilhari, Nilaksha Silva, Anushka Sanjeewani (wk), Ama Kanchana, Inoshi Priyadharshani, Kawya Kavindi, Sachini Nisansala, and Shashini Gimhani, alongside the star performer, Chamari Athapaththu.
Malaysia, on the other hand, entered the match with their own aspirations, needing a win to stay in the tournament after a convincing loss to Thailand in their opening fixture.
