Canada Strong Pass Unveiled: Liberals Encourage Canadians to Explore at Home Amid U.S. Tensions

In response to growing tensions with President Trump’s administration, Mark Carney’s Liberal Party has announced the launch of the Canada Strong Pass—a new initiative aimed at promoting domestic tourism and strengthening national identity among Canadians, especially youth and families.

With economic and political strains rising due to renewed pressures from U.S. President Donald Trump, Canadians are turning inward—choosing to explore their own country rather than travel south of the border. In a move to bolster this growing sentiment, Liberal Party Leader Mark Carney introduced the Canada Strong Pass, designed to give young Canadians better access to the nation’s cultural and natural heritage.

This initiative will grant free access to national galleries and museums for children and youth under 18, as well as free VIA Rail seats when traveling with parents, from June to August 2025. Heavily discounted rates will also be available for those aged 18–24. The government plans to collaborate with provinces and territories to extend similar benefits to provincial museums and galleries.

Additionally, reduced fees for camping in national parks will be offered to all Canadians during the summer months, encouraging families to embrace local travel and enjoy the country’s natural beauty.

“This is about more than travel,” said Carney. “It’s about uniting Canadians, celebrating our heritage, and defending our economy from external threats. Whether hiking our trails or exploring our galleries, we’re making sure the next generation knows what makes Canada special.”

The announcement follows the Liberals’ recent pledge to make access to national parks and historic sites free for everyone this summer.

Looking ahead, Carney reiterated the Liberals’ commitment to standing firm against Trump’s tariffs, supporting local businesses, and ensuring Canada remains the fastest growing economy in the G7. “Together, we will build a stronger, more resilient Canada,” he declared.
