A man has died and three others have been injured following a tragic two-vehicle car crash in regional NSW.
Six people were trapped inside of a Toyota minibus after it collided with a Kia Sorento on Fitzroy Avenue in Cowra at 10:40pm on Saturday, about 310km west of Sydney.
Emergency services arrived to find one bus passenger ejected and an 84-year-old man had died at the scene.
The Toyota driver, a 61-year-old woman, and four other bus passengers suffered minor injuries and three people were taken to the nearby Cowra Hospital.
It has been confirmed the bus passengers were travelling on a courtesy vehicle operated by the nearby Cowra Bowling and Recreation Club.
The 32-year-old SUV driver, who fled the scene before crashing into a nearby street sign after colliding with the minibus, was later located and taken by police for mandatory testing.
He was then interviewed and released pending further investigations.
“A crime scene was established with specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit attending to examine the scene,” NSW police said.
“An investigation has commenced into the circumstances surrounding the crash and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.”
Police have urged anyone with information about the incident or dashcam footage to call police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
