The Little India Harris Park Business Association (LIHPBA) is dedicated to fostering the growth of local businesses and the community in Harris Park while promoting the area as Sydney’s Little India.
Vision
LIHPBA envisions Harris Park developing a unique identity as Little India, both culturally and commercially, with a strong sense of community.
Mission
The mission of LIHPBA is to play a vital role in enhancing business, community, and culture in Harris Park and its surroundings.
Acknowledging Traditional Custodians
LIHPBA respectfully acknowledges the Burramattagal Clan of the Darug Nation, the Traditional Custodians of the Harris Park area. The association pays homage to their Elders, past and present, and extends this respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. LIHPBA recognizes the deep cultural and spiritual connection to the land and waters and honors the contributions of Indigenous communities. In its endeavors, the association is committed to learning from and supporting the rich heritage and traditions of the First Nations people.
Promoting Business and Culture
Established in 2015, the Little India Harris Park Business Association (LIHPBA) is a not-for-profit organization that highlights the creative arts of the Indian subcontinent and the business interests of the Harris Park and Parramatta areas. LIHPBA collaborates with various organizations to promote the multicultural mix, aiming to establish Little India as a prominent precinct of Arts & Culture both nationally and internationally.
LIHPBA’s initiatives have garnered significant media attention, particularly during the 2023 visit of Prime Minister Modi to the Local Government Area (LGA), along with numerous events supported by Federal, State, and local governments. These efforts have positioned Little India Harris Park on the international stage, benefiting partnering businesses and forging strong national and international connections. The strategic vision of LIHPBA includes establishing lasting linkages for its partners and playing a crucial role in Australia-India bilateral agreements, as acknowledged by Australia India Business Council Chair Irfan Malik and CEO of the Centre for Australia India Relations, Tim Thomas.
