The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to announce India’s squad for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup later today, along with the team for the upcoming home white-ball series against New Zealand.
With less than two months remaining before the start of the global tournament, the Ajit Agarkar-led senior selection committee will meet at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai to finalise the squads. The announcement will cover both the T20 World Cup team and the squads for the three One-Day Internationals and five Twenty20 Internationals against New Zealand.
In an official statement, the BCCI confirmed that the selection meeting would take place on Saturday, adding that captain Suryakumar Yadav and chief selector Ajit Agarkar will address the media later in the day.
India are currently competing in a five-match T20I series against South Africa at home, with the final match scheduled to be played in Ahmedabad on Friday.
New Zealand’s tour of India, from January 11 to 31, will serve as India’s final preparation ahead of the T20 World Cup, which begins on February 7. The tournament will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, featuring 20 teams across eight venues over 29 days.
Defending champions India have been drawn into Group A alongside the United States, Namibia, the Netherlands and former champions Pakistan. India will kick off their campaign against the United States in Mumbai.
India lifted the inaugural Men’s T20 World Cup in 2007 and will be aiming to make history by becoming the first team to successfully defend the title.
