Australian Space Agency’s first CTO moves on – Strategy – Training & Development

[ad_1]

The Australian Space Agency’s first chief technology officer, Aude Vignelles, has announced that she is to leave her role.

Australian Space Agency's first CTO moves on

Vignelles joined the agency in 2019 as executive director, program and capability and was made CTO in November 2020.

Announcing her decision on LinkedIn, Vignelles said it had been an “honour and a privilege” to be the agency’s inaugural CTO.

“I am proud to acknowledge the significant legacy we have built together – from establishing the Office of the CTO from scratch to delivering a comprehensive technical strategy in collaboration with government agencies and international space partners, we have laid a solid foundation for the Agency’s future endeavours,” she wrote.

The agency’s head Enrico Palermo told iTnews that Vignelles “has been a valued member of the Australian Space Agency’s leadership since just a few months after its establishment.

“Aude’s background, skills, leadership, and excellent reputation among stakeholders – both domestically and internationally – were critical in the agency’s formative years,” he said.

“They have laid a solid foundation for the future success of both the agency and the industry as a whole.

“We wish Aude all the best in her next endeavours, and her ongoing contribution to enhancing Australia’s place in the global space ecosystem.”

The agency’s leadership page lists Jarrod Powell as general manager, national space capability, technology and programs.

Vignelles began her career with the European Space Agency in the 1990s, before moving to Australia in 2002. Her roles included positions with Foxtel, Technicolor, and NBN Co before joining the Australian Space Agency in 2019.

She is also an advisory board member for CSIRO’s Future Science Platform, the Pawsey Supercomputing Centre, and the Australian Robotic Inspection and Asset Management (ARIAM) Hub.
