Australia plans migrant deportations, student visa limits

The One Nation party has proposed deporting 75,000 migrants who have violated Australia’s immigration laws.

One Nation’s immigration policy will see an estimated 75,000 illegal immigrants deported immediately and cut immigration by 570,000 from current levels under Labor.

Party leader Senator Pauline Hanson said it was time for the Australian Government to serve the interests of Australians first and ensure it met community demands on immigration.

“Record immigration under Anthony Albanese is making our housing crisis worse, driving up inflation and overwhelming public services and infrastructure,” Senator Hanson said.

“We know from the Department of Home Affairs there are more than 75,000 people in Australia who are here unlawfully: overstaying visas, working illegally or having committed crimes. Under our policy they will be deported, and they will have no recourse to appeal to the Australian Review Tribunal.

“One Nation will drastically reduce overall immigration numbers, capping visas at no more than 130,000 per year – a cut of 570,000 from current levels under Labor.

“We’ll introduce an eight-year waiting period for immigrants before they can apply for citizenship or government welfare. Immigrants will need to demonstrate they are fit to become Australians for a long time before they’re able to apply for citizenship and the privileges that come with it.

“We will also reduce foreign student numbers – prioritising Australian university courses for Australian students – and close the loopholes that turn study into a back door for permanent residency. Our policy will also stop foreign students from bringing family members here.

“To better deter boat arrivals, One Nation will demand the reinstatement of temporary protection visas. People smugglers continue to test our borders under Labor’s regime which has removed TPVs, a proven means of helping to stop the boats.

“Under our policy, Australia will refuse entry from nations known to foster extremist ideologies incompatible with Australian values. The major parties’ failure to screen out extremists has directly resulted in the violence and unrest unleashed in Australia over the past year. We will also withdraw Australia from the UN Refugee Convention.

“One Nation puts Australia and Australians first.”
