Australia Edges India in a Thrilling Contest!

On Sunday, October 13, 2024, cricket fans witnessed a nail-biting match between Australia Women and India Women in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Australia came out on top with a narrow 9-run victory, defending their total of 151 runs against a determined Indian side.

Australia won the toss and elected to bat, with standout performances from Grace Harris, who scored 40 runs off 41 balls, and Tahlia McGrath, who contributed 32 runs off 26 balls. Despite some early setbacks, Australia posted a competitive total of 151/8 in their 20 overs. Deepti Sharma and Renuka Singh Thakur were the pick of the Indian bowlers, taking two wickets each.

In response, India Women put up a valiant fight but fell just short, finishing at 142/9 after 20 overs. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur led the charge with a gritty 54* off 47 balls, while Deepti Sharma added a solid 29 off 25 balls. However, Australia’s bowlers, led by Player of the Match Sophie Molineux (2/32), managed to hold their nerve in the final overs to secure the win.
