Arsenal Crowned First FIFA Women’s Champions Cup Winners

Arsenal etched their name into the history books by becoming the first winners of the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup, edging past Brazilian champions Corinthians 3–2 after extra time in a pulsating final at Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners struck first through Olivia Smith, who finished calmly in the 15th minute, but Corinthians quickly answered when experienced midfielder Gabi Zanotti equalised to ensure the teams went into half-time level.

Arsenal appeared to have sealed victory when Lotte Wubben-Moy powered in a header from Emily Fox’s delivery, only for late drama to unfold. Deep into stoppage time, a VAR review awarded Corinthians a penalty, which Vic Albuquerque converted to send the contest into extra time.

With tension mounting, Caitlin Foord produced the decisive moment in the 104th minute, sliding home the winning goal past goalkeeper Lele to spark celebrations among the home crowd.

The triumph delivers Arsenal their first trophy of the season and adds another landmark achievement following their UEFA Women’s Champions League success earlier in the year. It also underlines the club’s growing stature on the global stage, as champions from different continents met for a new title designed to showcase the very best of women’s football.
