Growing up, Amandha Amarasekara was one of the shyest and most introverted kids around. He never participated in sports, was terrified of girls, and could often be found in a corner, lost in the world of video games on his Gameboy Advance.
Amandha’s life began to change when he started working at one of Sri Lanka’s largest retail outlets. His job in marketing, specifically as a brand manager, required him to interact with a wide range of people, pushing him out of his shell. He had to train showroom managers on how to sell products, which was a wild experience. During this time, he also took on a part-time gig as a TV host for a show called “Party Crashers.” It was through this job that he met his now-agent, Mr. Brian Kerkoven.
With Brian’s guidance, Amandha ventured into modeling, initially doing it part-time while working as a flight attendant for SriLankan Airlines. Traveling to various destinations was a blessing, but his true passion lay on the runway, under the lights, and in front of the camera. After two years, he realized that life is too short to live half-heartedly. He took a leap of faith, despite his parents’ disapproval, and decided to pursue modeling full-time.
In 2018, Amandha made a pivotal decision to leave his job as a cabin crew member and entered a local pageant for Mr. International, where he placed first. This victory was a turning point in his life. Following the title, he was invited to become a content creator, which was a new concept at the time. He had the honor of representing Sri Lanka in the Philippines in 2019.
Since then, Amandha has been working as a full-time model, part-time emcee for events, and content creator for men’s fashion and lifestyle in Sri Lanka.
Amanda’s recent achievements include directing and producing his first short film on men’s mental health for Men’s Mental Health Month in June, highlighting the struggles Sri Lankan men face in silence. Beyond his advocacy for mental health and life coaching, he has also started hosting Men’s Mental Health circles, providing a safe space for men from various backgrounds to express their vulnerabilities.
In addition to his emcee career, Amanda, along with his best friend, launched a podcast called “That’s So Bro.” The podcast explores topics relevant to men, offering insights through a comedic and brotherly perspective.
Furthermore, Amanda is expanding his expertise in men’s fashion by creating content about fashion and styling, and now offers personal styling services to individuals.
