Today, multiple rounds of showers are expected across Northern, North-Central, Eastern, North-Western, and Uva provinces, as well as in the Matale and Nuwara-Eliya districts.
Elsewhere, scattered showers or thundershowers may develop after 2:00 p.m. Some areas in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, along with Galle and Matara districts, could experience fairly heavy rainfall, reaching around 50 mm.
Winds may pick up, reaching 30–40 km/h at times, particularly over the eastern slopes of the central hills, Northern, North-Central, North-Western, and Eastern provinces, as well as in Matara, Hambantota, and Monaragala districts.
Early morning mist is likely in parts of Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Uva provinces, and in Galle and Matara districts.
Authorities urge the public to stay cautious during thundershowers and take necessary precautions to avoid hazards from strong winds and lightning.
