Actor Hemal Ranasinghe Arrested Over Alleged Assault

Popular Sri Lankan film actor Hemal Ranasinghe was arrested by police today (February 3) in connection with an alleged assault incident, according to police sources.

The actor reportedly surrendered to the Wellawatte Police following an incident said to have occurred on January 8 at Havelock City, Colombo. Police stated that he had been requested several times to appear and provide a statement regarding the complaint but had failed to do so until today.

Following his surrender, Hemal Ranasinghe was taken into custody and is expected to be produced before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court. Investigations into the incident are ongoing, and further legal action will depend on court proceedings.

Authorities have not yet released additional details regarding the nature of the alleged assault.
