Fuel Deliveries Expected Soon, Says Sri Lanka President

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake delivered a special statement in Parliament today (20), outlining the government’s latest plans regarding fuel imports and the expected arrival of upcoming shipments.

Addressing lawmakers, the President explained that the delivery schedule has been finalized following the opening of a tender process on March 17. According to the current timeline, a consignment of diesel is expected to reach the country between April 6 and 7.

He further noted that additional fuel shipments are also in the pipeline, with petrol deliveries anticipated around April 16 or 17. A shipment of furnace oil is scheduled to arrive earlier, between April 12 and 13, while Jet A-1 aviation fuel is expected to be delivered between April 10 and 11.

The President emphasized that these planned arrivals are part of ongoing efforts by the government to maintain a steady fuel supply and manage distribution effectively in the coming weeks. He also reassured that authorities are closely monitoring procurement and logistics to minimize potential disruptions.

The update comes amid continued public attention on fuel availability, with officials aiming to ensure that both essential services and daily consumer needs are met without interruption.
