Pope Leo XIV has voiced deep concern over recent events in the Middle East, expressing profound sorrow for all victims of the bombings in the region, according to Vatican News.
The Pope highlighted that the casualties include many innocent civilians, particularly children, as well as aid workers, including Father Pierre El-Rahi, a Maronite priest who was killed in an Israeli attack on Qlayaa, Lebanon, on Monday.
According to the report, Pope Leo prayed that all hostilities would end as soon as possible, emphasizing the need for peace and protection of civilians.
Father El-Rahi lost his life after responding to a local family whose home had come under fire from Israeli tanks, demonstrating courage and selflessness in the midst of the conflict.
