The streets of Dubai Investments Park came alive in a sea of green this past Sunday as over 3,500 participants took part in the fifth edition of the Dubai Investments Green Run 2026. Held on February 15, 2026, the landmark event celebrated five years of encouraging environmental awareness through community fitness initiatives.
Originally launched as a small local effort, the Green Run has evolved into a key fixture on Dubai’s sustainability calendar. This year, the event attracted a diverse crowd, including professional athletes, corporate teams, school groups, and families, all sporting green T-shirts to demonstrate their commitment to a more sustainable, low-carbon future.
Bringing competition and community together
Participants had the option of joining a 5km competitive race, aimed at seasoned runners, or a 3km fun run/walk, designed for families and casual participants. The mix of competitive and recreational runners highlighted the event’s inclusive ethos, combining sporting excellence with environmental advocacy.
A total of 12 winners were announced across male and female categories. In addition to the podium prizes, Dh22,000 in cash was awarded, along with special recognition for schools and organizations that creatively showcased “Green Messages,” further reinforcing the event’s sustainability theme.
Beyond the finish line
The Green Run Village, set up behind the Dubai Investments Headquarters, served as the hub for educational and wellness activities. Participants took part in interactive environmental workshops, promoting awareness and engagement in sustainable practices.
Reflecting on the growth of the initiative, Mohammed Saeed Al Raqbani, Head of the Sustainability Committee at Dubai Investments, said:
“What started as a small community project has grown into an influential annual movement. The increasing participation, energy, and environmental consciousness we see every year demonstrates the lasting impact of the Dubai Investments Green Run.”
