Fake SriLankan Airlines Offer Circulating on Social Media

SriLankan Airlines has issued a scam alert warning the public about a fraudulent message circulating on social media platforms, falsely using the airline’s name and branding to deceive users.

SriLankan Airlines has warned the public about a fake promotional message circulating on WhatsApp and Facebook that misuses the airline’s name, logo, and brand imagery. The airline said the message is fraudulent and urged customers not to fall victim to the scam.

In a statement, SriLankan Airlines clarified that it does not request personal information or payments through WhatsApp or any other social media platform. The airline advised the public not to click on suspicious links and not to share sensitive personal information such as National Identity Card (NIC) numbers, passport details, one-time passwords (OTPs), or credit and debit card information.

Customers have been urged to verify any promotional offers or communications only through official SriLankan Airlines channels, including the airline’s official website, mobile applications, hotline, and verified social media accounts.

The airline emphasised the importance of staying vigilant against online scams to prevent financial loss and identity theft, especially as fraudulent messages continue to spread on social media platforms.
