IndiGo Begins Full Compliance With Revised Flight Duty Time Rules From February 11

India’s largest airline, IndiGo, has confirmed it is fully prepared to comply with the revised Flight Duty Time Limitation (FDTL) norms starting February 11, following the expiry of its temporary exemption.

IndiGo has announced that it will fully comply with the revised Flight Duty Time Limitation (FDTL) norms from February 11, 2026, after the expiry of a temporary exemption granted by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The exemption, issued on December 5, 2025, was provided to help the airline stabilise operations after widespread flight disruptions.

In a status update, the DGCA confirmed that IndiGo’s relief from certain Civil Aviation Requirements (CAR) provisions ended on February 10, and the airline has put all necessary operational, rostering, and monitoring systems in place to ensure full compliance with the new rules.

The temporary exemption was granted due to significant disruptions faced by IndiGo in early December 2025. During this period, the airline was required to submit hourly flight operations data and regular performance reports, while DGCA officials closely monitored its operations through periodic reviews and on-ground oversight at airports and operations centres.

According to the regulator, IndiGo has increased its crew buffer and improved its pilot-to-aircraft ratio to strengthen operational resilience. The airline has also integrated the revised FDTL norms into its crew planning and rostering systems to ensure stable and compliant flight operations.

An IndiGo spokesperson reiterated that the airline has always complied with applicable duty time regulations and has aligned its systems to meet the updated requirements, maintaining an optimal pool of pilots and staff to ensure safe and reliable services across its network.
