Colombo to Ahmedabad Direct Flights Set to Launch in April

Efforts are moving forward to establish a direct air link between Colombo, Sri Lanka, and Ahmedabad in India, aimed at strengthening travel and tourism connections between the two countries.

Sri Lanka’s Deputy Minister of Tourism, Ruwan Ranasingha, confirmed that the government is working with SriLankan Airlines to commence direct flights from Ahmedabad to Colombo starting this April. The initiative is expected to provide a more convenient travel option for passengers and enhance bilateral tourism ties.

Speaking about the new service, Deputy Minister Ranasingha highlighted its significance for religious tourism. “We are planning to launch a direct flight route from Ahmedabad in Gujarat to Colombo through SriLankan Airlines beginning this April. This will allow devotees from Sri Lanka to easily visit Gujarat and participate in religious pilgrimage activities,” he stated.

The launch of these direct flights is anticipated to reduce travel time and improve accessibility between Sri Lanka and western India, potentially boosting both leisure tourism and religious travel. Airlines and tourism authorities are reportedly coordinating to finalize schedules and promotional campaigns ahead of the service’s debut.
