Thousands Rally in Australia Opposing Israeli President Herzog’s Visit

Large crowds gathered across parts of Australia to demonstrate against the visit of Israeli President Isaac Herzog, with protesters voicing strong opposition to his presence in the country.

Rallies were held in major cities, where demonstrators carried Palestinian flags, placards and banners calling for an end to the conflict in Gaza. Organisers said the protests were aimed at expressing solidarity with Palestinians and urging the Australian government to take a firmer stance on the ongoing crisis in the Middle East.

Chants echoed through city streets as speakers addressed supporters, criticising Israel’s military actions and questioning the decision to host President Herzog. Some protest groups also called for sanctions and a review of diplomatic ties.

Security was heightened around official venues during the visit, though authorities reported that the demonstrations remained largely peaceful. Police were deployed to manage crowds and ensure public safety.

Government representatives defended the visit, stating that diplomatic engagement remains important even amid disagreements. However, activists insisted that welcoming the Israeli leader at this time sent the wrong message.

The protests reflect the deep divisions within Australia over the Israel-Gaza conflict, which has sparked repeated demonstrations in recent months.
