A UAE skydiver has made an extraordinary recovery after surviving a serious parachuting accident that doctors say many people would not survive.
Nawaf Al Awadhi, a 43-year-old Emirati skydiver with thousands of jumps to his name, suffered severe injuries during a skydive in Abu Dhabi when his parachute descended rapidly, leading to a hard landing. The accident resulted in multiple fractures to his legs, pelvis and spine, requiring urgent medical attention and several surgeries.
Medical experts noted that injuries of this magnitude often carry a very low survival rate, highlighting how critical his condition was. Quick emergency response and specialised trauma care played a major role in saving his life.
Following treatment, he underwent months of intensive rehabilitation. Initially unable to walk, he gradually progressed from a wheelchair to crutches and eventually regained independent mobility through determination, therapy and continuous medical support.
Doctors describe his recovery as remarkable. Al Awadhi now stresses the importance of safety and proper training in extreme sports while expressing deep gratitude to the medical teams, family and friends who supported him throughout his recovery journey. His story stands as a powerful example of resilience, survival and human strength.
