England U19s March On After Battling Semi-Final Win

Australia’s bid to defend their Under-19 World Cup title came to an end after a spirited semi-final loss to England, despite a heroic century from injured captain Ollie Peake in Zimbabwe.

Peake battled severe cramps but still produced a determined 100, keeping Australia’s hopes alive deep into the chase. However, England held their nerve to secure a 27-run victory after posting 277 for seven, powered by a superb 110 from skipper Thomas Rew.

Australia struggled early in their reply and were left with a steep run-rate, but Peake’s late assault briefly raised hopes before he was dismissed, with the side eventually bowled out for 250.

The defeat ended Australia’s unbeaten run in the tournament and sent England into the final, while Peake admitted his team had been outplayed on the day despite showing great character.
