Wolverhampton Literature Festival returns next weekend with a vibrant celebration of literature, poetry, music, and performance, featuring over 90 events across the city from 6–8 February.
Bringing together award-winning authors, poets, musicians, broadcasters, and performers, the three-day festival promises something for everyone—adults, children, and families alike. Festival-goers will have the opportunity to meet well-known figures such as Dr Hilary Jones, Blur drummer Dave Rowntree, Robin Ince, Natalie Haynes, and bestselling fantasy author Imani Erriu.
Friday 6 February
The festival opens at 11:00 GMT, with events focused on poetry, creative writing, local history, and publishing. Highlights include poetry readings by Troy Cabida and Caroline Smith at Wolverhampton Art Gallery, historian Ned Williams discussing forgotten Black Country figures, and talks by authors Cebo Campbell, A D Bergin, and Kasim Ali.
Music and performance take centre stage in the evening, with folk singer Beans on Toast discussing his latest book, and Dave Rowntree launching his photography book No One You Know, featuring rare images from Blur’s early years.
Saturday 7 February
Saturday features nearly 40 events, including talks, workshops, performances, and discussions. Dr Hilary Jones will speak about his historical trilogy, while former Metropolitan Police officer Susie Merrill shares stories from her policing career.
Other highlights include travel writer Daniel Stables, poet Rupinder Kaur Waraich, broadcaster and comedian Robin Ince, and spoken-word performances exploring language, history, and identity. Immersive theatre and poetry performances continue throughout the day across multiple venues.
Sunday 8 February
The festival concludes with a strong literary and performance line-up. Events include a reimagined stage adaptation of The Great Gatsby, discussions on food, culture, and language, and performances celebrating South Asian women writers.
A major highlight is Imani Erriu, who will discuss Fallen Stars, the sequel to her bestselling Heavenly Bodies series. With a massive global following on TikTok and sold-out events worldwide, her appearance is expected to draw large crowds. The day also features talks by Natalie Haynes, Robin Ince, and local poets and musicians.
With its diverse programme and city-wide venues, the Wolverhampton Literature Festival once again showcases the power of storytelling in all its forms.
