1,000 Sri Lankan Nurses to Be Employed in Israel in 2026

The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) has announced plans to deploy 1,000 Sri Lankan nurses to Israel in 2026 for home-based nursing positions, opening new overseas employment opportunities for qualified professionals.

According to the SLBFE, eligible applicants include individuals who have completed a nursing training programme at the Bureau or a registered training institution, those holding an NVQ Level III certificate, or candidates with a minimum of 11 months’ experience in the nursing field. Applicants must be between 25 and 45 years of age and must have sat for the GCE Ordinary Level (O/L) examination.

Candidates who have completed the Bureau’s English language course and demonstrate strong English proficiency are also encouraged to apply.

Selected applicants will be granted a five-year work visa and will have the opportunity to earn a monthly salary exceeding Rs. 600,000, making the programme a highly attractive overseas employment option.

The recruitment process is conducted under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Governments of Sri Lanka and Israel. Under this agreement, 2,656 Sri Lankans have been identified as eligible for nursing employment in Israel, with 107 professionals already deployed during the first two weeks of 2026.

The SLBFE emphasized that these employment opportunities are offered exclusively through the Bureau, in collaboration with Israel’s Population and Immigration Services Authority (PIBA) and the Government of Israel. The public has been strongly advised not to hand over money, passports, or personal documents to unauthorized individuals or institutions, as there are no alternative channels for recruitment.
