Canada Unveils Squad for T20 World Cup 2026

Canada is gearing up for its second appearance at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, determined to improve on their promising debut in 2024 and make a stronger impression when the tournament unfolds in India and Sri Lanka.

In their first outing on the global stage, Canada finished fourth in their group but managed to secure three points, highlighted by a memorable 12-run victory over Ireland. With that experience behind them, the team now heads into the 2026 edition with renewed confidence and a strengthened squad.

Canada secured qualification for this World Cup by going unbeaten in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Americas Regional Final, winning all six of their matches and topping the tournament standings. Their success was powered by standout bowling performances—Shivam Sharma’s off-spin fetched 11 wickets at an economy of 7.81, while left-arm pacer Kaleem Sana claimed 10 wickets at 7.5. Canada will again look to this bowling duo to make crucial breakthroughs in subcontinental conditions.

In the batting department, aggressive left-hander Nicholas Kirton remains a key figure. He will be supported by Yuvraj Samra, another powerful left-handed hitter boasting an impressive strike rate of 160.72.

Canada faces a challenging path from the beginning, drawn in a tough group alongside South Africa, New Zealand, Afghanistan and the UAE. Their campaign kicks off against South Africa in Ahmedabad on February 9, 2026.
