Showery Conditions Likely to Reduce Tomorrow

The Department of Meteorology has announced that the current showery conditions across the island are expected to ease from tomorrow (15).

A few isolated showers are likely in the Uva, Eastern, and Central provinces, while Western Province and the districts of Galle, Matara, and Rathnapura may experience showers or thundershowers after 2:00 p.m. Mainly fair weather is expected in other parts of the country.

Early mornings could see misty conditions in parts of Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Central provinces, as well as in Galle and Matara. The public is advised to take precautions against strong localized winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Over the seas, occasional showers are expected off the coast from Kankasanthurai to Pottuvil via Trincomalee, with evening or night showers or thundershowers possible in other surrounding sea areas.

North-easterly winds will blow at 25–35 kmph, occasionally reaching up to 45 kmph in the sea areas from Colombo to Mannar via Puttalam and from Hambantota to Pottuvil. These areas will also experience fairly rough seas, while other coastal waters are expected to remain slight to moderate.

During thundershowers, strong gusty winds and very rough seas are possible temporarily, prompting caution for those near the coast or at sea.
