India’s passport has climbed to 80th place in the Henley Passport Index 2026, now tied with Algeria, giving holders visa-free access to 55 countries. This rise from 85th last year highlights India’s growing diplomatic reach and expanding travel opportunities.
Indian travellers can now enjoy easier access to destinations across Asia, Africa, Oceania, the Americas, and the Caribbean, surpassing some neighbouring countries in travel freedom. Popular visa-free spots include Bhutan, Nepal, Malaysia, Thailand, Mauritius, Fiji, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, and Jamaica.
These destinations allow Indian passport holders to travel for leisure, work, or study without the hassle of visa applications, making spontaneous trips or extended stays simpler than ever.
