Mumbai Indians captain Harmanpreet Kaur delivered a superb unbeaten 71 off 43 balls to guide her team to a seven-wicket victory over Gujarat Giants, successfully chasing 193 — the second-highest run chase in WPL history. Supported by Amanjot Kaur and Nicola Carey, Harmanpreet anchored the innings calmly, extending MI’s dominance over the Giants to an 8–0 head-to-head record. The win also kept MI’s perfect streak intact: they have never lost a WPL match in which Harmanpreet scores a fifty.
Earlier, Gujarat Giants posted 192 after a strong start from Beth Mooney, Kanika Ahuja, and Ash Gardner. Ahuja’s promotion to No. 3 paid off, and despite regular wickets, the Giants held a solid position at the halfway mark. A dramatic twist came late in the innings when Ayushi Soni became the first player in WPL history to retire out, allowing Bharti Fulmali to come in and launch a powerful late assault. Fulmali’s burst of boundaries and sixes helped Giants smash 39 runs in the final two overs.
MI’s chase began positively with Hayley Matthews’ brisk start, but her early dismissal brought Harmanpreet and Amanjot together. The pair rebuilt patiently before accelerating, with Amanjot striking cleanly to put pressure back on the Giants. After her dismissal, Nicola Carey kept the momentum going, smashing five boundaries in a single over to swing the match decisively in MI’s favour.
Harmanpreet completed her half-century and held her nerve despite several missed chances by the Giants’ fielders. With only a handful of runs needed, she finished the chase in style with a boundary, sealing a confident win and another memorable night for Mumbai Indians.
