More than 4,700 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) benefited from the third leg of the “Bagong Bayani ng Mundo: OFW Serbisyo Caravan” held in Dubai, according to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).
The two-day event, conducted on January 10 and 11 at the Conrad Hotel, brought together nine Philippine government agencies, which collectively processed over 9,100 transactions. Services provided included the issuance of 816 Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) E-Cards and the successful renewal of OWWA membership for 571 OFWs.
Migrant Workers Undersecretary Dominique Rubia-Tutay highlighted that, in addition to regular government services, financial assistance was also extended to Filipino cancer patients residing in Dubai.
She noted that the aid was sourced from multiple government programs, including the DMW AKSYON Fund, OWWA Ecares, the LAB for All program led by First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos, the Social Security System (SSS), and the Office of the President–Presidential Action Center (OP-PACe).
Following the successful caravan, the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) Dubai announced that selected government services will continue to be available until January 15, allowing OFWs to seek assistance without prior registration.
As part of the extended services, PhilHealth will provide on-site assistance at MWO Dubai from January 12 to 15, between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Meanwhile, OP-PACe will be available on January 12, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The initiative forms part of the Philippine government’s ongoing efforts to bring essential services closer to overseas Filipinos and ensure their welfare abroad.
