Ole Miss RB Kewan Lacy a Key Factor Despite Early Injury in Fiesta Bowl
Ole Miss running back Kewan Lacy left the field early in the Fiesta Bowl after a 73-yard touchdown run but remained a central figure in the Rebels’ offense. Speaking at halftime on ESPN, head coach Pete Golding said, “They’re looking at him so we’ll figure out at halftime,” as Ole Miss trailed 17-13. Lacy’s long run accounted for the team’s only score in the first half.
Through two carries, Lacy had racked up 75 yards, while backup Logan Diggs added four carries, and quarterback Trinidad Chambliss officially had three carries, including sacks.
Lacy has been a standout in 2025, entering the game with 1,464 rushing yards on 295 carries and 24 touchdowns, including his Fiesta Bowl TD. He’s also contributed as a receiver with 28 catches for 173 yards. Paired with Chambliss, who finished in the top 10 of Heisman voting, Lacy has been a driving force behind Ole Miss’ offense, helping the team reach the College Football Playoff for the first time.
Even with the mid-game injury scare, Lacy returned to action in the third quarter, underscoring his importance to the Rebels as they continue their playoff run.
