Emirates Issues Travel Advisory Ahead of New Year Rush at Dubai Airport

Emirates has issued an important travel advisory for passengers flying during the busy New Year period, urging travellers to plan ahead as Dubai International Airport prepares for a major surge in passenger traffic.

Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, has warned of a significant increase in passenger numbers at Dubai International Airport (DXB) during the first week of January. The airline expects heavy congestion between Friday, January 2, and Monday, January 5, as millions of travellers pass through the airport.

To ensure a smooth travel experience, Emirates has strongly advised passengers to arrive at the airport at least four hours before their scheduled departure. All Emirates flights operate from Terminal 3, one of the busiest terminals globally.

The airline also recommends that travellers clear immigration at least 90 minutes before departure and reach their boarding gates no later than one hour before take-off. These measures are aimed at reducing delays during peak travel times.

To speed up airport procedures, Emirates encourages passengers to check in up to 48 hours in advance using the Emirates mobile app and register for the biometric smart gates at DXB. This system allows eligible travellers to move quickly through security and immigration.

Passengers also have the option of checking in luggage early at the Emirates City Check-In and Travel Store at DIFC between four and 24 hours before departure. Those using this service between mid-December and mid-January will receive bonus Skywards Miles. Early baggage drop facilities are also available at Ajman Central Bus Terminal.

For added convenience, Emirates offers a Home Check-In service that allows luggage to be collected from homes, hotels or offices. This service is complimentary for First Class passengers and Platinum Skywards members, while similar services are available through Marhaba for other travellers.

Emirates has further reminded passengers to carefully review restricted items before travelling, particularly new regulations concerning power banks, which may not be permitted onboard. Carrying prohibited items could result in delays or additional screening.

At DXB, travellers can use complimentary trains and shuttle buses between concourses to ease transfers. Buggy services are also available for those requiring assistance, with First Class passengers having access to dedicated buggies on request.

With travel demand peaking during the New Year period, Emirates advises passengers to plan ahead, arrive early and make use of available services to ensure a hassle-free journey.
