Sri Lanka Cricket has announced the appointment of former pace legend Lasith Malinga as the Consultant Fast Bowling Coach of the national men’s team.
His short-term assignment runs from 15 December 2025 to 25 January 2026, during which he will work closely with Sri Lanka’s fast bowlers to enhance their preparation and development ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
Sri Lanka Cricket aims to capitalize on Malinga’s vast international experience and his renowned expertise in death bowling, particularly in the shortest format, to strengthen the team’s readiness for the global tournament.
The T20 World Cup, co-hosted by Sri Lanka and India, begins on 7 February 2026, with the opening match scheduled at the SSC, Colombo.
