Gold prices in the local market continue to climb, mirroring the sharp surge in global gold rates.
As of today (27), the global gold price has reached a new record, surpassing US$ 4,553.
In line with this trend, gold prices in Sri Lanka have increased for the second time today, bringing the total rise to Rs. 12,000.
This morning, a 22-carat gold sovereign was priced at Rs. 340,400 at the Colombo Pettah gold market.
Meanwhile, traders noted that the price of a pound of 24-carat gold, which stood at Rs. 356,000 yesterday, has increased to Rs. 368,000 today.
