Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has conveyed profound sorrow over the loss of lives and extensive damage caused by Cyclone Ditwah in Sri Lanka.
His message came soon after receiving a phone call from Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, during which both leaders discussed the devastation and the ongoing response efforts.
Sharif extended his heartfelt condolences to the affected families and commended Sri Lankan authorities and rescue teams for their swift, brave, and tireless work under extremely difficult circumstances.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s close ties with Sri Lanka, the Prime Minister said, “As a neighbor and brotherly country, Pakistan has always stood in full solidarity with Sri Lanka, especially in moments of grief.”
He further announced that Pakistan is sending urgently required humanitarian aid to support immediate relief efforts and pledged continued assistance as Sri Lanka works toward recovery and rebuilding.
