Sri Lanka’s tourism industry shows no signs of slowing down, with over 82,000 visitors recorded in November alone. The country’s year-to-date arrivals now stand at nearly two million, reflecting steady global interest and strong recovery across key markets.

Sri Lanka Welcomes 82,000 Visitors in November, Nearing 2 Million Arrivals for 2025

Sri Lanka’s tourism sector continues its upward momentum, recording 82,270 tourist arrivals in November, according to official data. This surge brings the total number of visitors in 2025 to 1,972,957, highlighting the country’s steady recovery and increasing global appeal.

Between November 1 and 9, the island welcomed 61,890 tourists, with India maintaining its position as the leading source market. India accounted for 15,541 arrivals, representing 25.1% of total visitors during this period.

India: 15,541 (25.1%)

Russian Federation: 8,220 (13.3%)

Germany: 4,740 (7.7%)

United Kingdom: 4,450 (7.2%)

France: 2,614 (4.2%)

Australia: 2,515 (4.1%)

China: 2,093 (3.4%)

Spain: 1,393 (2.3%)

Poland: 1,376 (2.2%)

United States: 1,266 (2.0%)

Other global markets contributed an additional 17,682 visitors, making up 28.6% of the total arrivals. This diverse mix underscores Sri Lanka’s growing popularity across regions, driven by renewed confidence, improved connectivity, and expanding tourism experiences.

With December expected to bring even higher numbers, Sri Lanka’s tourism industry is gearing up for a strong finish to the year.
