ChatGPT Go Now Free for One Year in India: How to Claim the Offer

In a major announcement for Indian users, OpenAI has made its ChatGPT Go plan — worth ₹399 per month — completely free for one year, starting November 4. The move marks a significant expansion of OpenAI’s user reach in one of its fastest-growing markets.

OpenAI, the company behind the powerful ChatGPT-5 model, has unveiled a groundbreaking offer for India. Starting November 4, users in India can now access the ChatGPT Go plan free of charge for an entire year. The plan, which usually costs ₹399 per month, brings several advanced AI tools and features that were previously exclusive to paid users.

The ChatGPT Go plan was launched recently to cater specifically to India’s expanding AI user base. Positioned between the free and premium tiers, it offers faster responses, longer conversations, image generation, file uploads, and advanced analytical capabilities. One of its standout features is its memory capability, which allows ChatGPT to recall previous interactions and provide more personalized and context-aware responses over time.

With this new offer, Indian users can experience premium-level AI access at no cost. Existing Go plan subscribers will automatically be upgraded to the free 12-month plan, without needing to cancel or reapply. Once the year concludes, the regular pricing will resume unless users opt out.

How to claim the free ChatGPT Go plan:

Step 1: Log in or sign up on the ChatGPT website or mobile app.

Step 2: Once logged in, eligible Indian users can activate ChatGPT Go for free directly from their account settings.

Nick Turley, OpenAI’s Vice President and Head of ChatGPT, shared that this initiative aims to make advanced AI tools more accessible across India.

“Ahead of our first DevDay Exchange event in India, we’re making ChatGPT Go freely available for a year to help more people across India easily access and benefit from advanced AI. We’re excited to see the amazing things our users will build, learn, and achieve with these tools,” Turley said, as quoted by The Indian Express.

The decision is being seen as a strategic move to strengthen OpenAI’s presence in one of the world’s largest and fastest-growing AI markets. By offering advanced tools like Sora, image generation, and document analysis at no cost, the company is setting the stage for wider adoption of its ecosystem in India.
