A 32-year-old man from Peterborough has been charged with multiple counts of attempted murder following two separate knife attacks in Cambridgeshire and London.
Anthony Williams, 32, from Peterborough, has been charged with 10 counts of attempted murder after a knife attack on a train in Cambridgeshire on Saturday evening. He also faces one count of possession of a bladed article and one count of actual bodily harm.
In a separate case, Williams is charged with an additional count of attempted murder linked to an incident at a London Docklands Light Railway (DLR) station in the early hours of the same day.
Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander praised the bravery of a train worker who intervened during the Cambridgeshire attack, describing his condition as “critical but stable.”
“He put himself in harm’s way, and there are people who are alive today who wouldn’t be alive had it not been for his actions,” she said, commending the worker’s heroic efforts.
Police confirmed that a 35-year-old man initially detained at the scene has since been released without charge, as officers determined he was not involved in the attack.
Authorities continue to investigate both incidents to determine any possible connection or motive behind the stabbings.
