India’s largest school innovation challenge, ‘Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025,’ officially begins today, running from 10 AM to 11 PM, with thousands of young innovators from across the country set to participate.
Organised by the Ministry of Education in partnership with the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) and NITI Aayog, the Buildathon aims to cultivate creativity, innovation, and problem-solving skills among students from classes 6 to 12.
This national initiative encourages students to present unique ideas or prototypes under four visionary themes — Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India), Swadeshi (Indigenous Innovation), Vocal for Local, and Samriddh Bharat (Prosperous India). The event seeks to strengthen India’s innovation ecosystem at the school level by nurturing young minds to think independently and design practical solutions for real-world challenges.
The competition will be live-streamed nationwide through official portals — vbb.mic.gov.in and schoolinnovationmarathon.org/registration — allowing educators, parents, and innovation enthusiasts to witness the next generation of changemakers in action.
To recognize and reward outstanding talent, the Buildathon features a ₹1 crore prize pool, which will be distributed among 10 national-level winners, 100 state-level winners, and 1,000 district-level winners.
With participation expected from thousands of schools across India, the event stands as a powerful testament to the country’s growing emphasis on innovation-led education and its mission toward building a self-reliant, technologically advanced, and prosperous nation.
