Bushfire at Enoggera Reservoir Sparks ‘Watch and Act’ Alert Near Brisbane

Firefighters are battling a bushfire at Enoggera Reservoir, just 20km west of Brisbane, as authorities issue a “watch and act” alert for surrounding areas.

The blaze, which broke out near Mount Nebo Road between Camp Mountain Road and Scrub Road, has prompted the deployment of multiple Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) crews along with waterbombing aircraft to control the flames.

Residents have been warned it is not safe to return to the area, with QFES advising that Mount Nebo Road remains closed due to fallen trees and ongoing firefighting operations.

“Firefighters are working to contain the fire,” QFES said in its latest update, urging caution as conditions remain unpredictable.

The Enoggera Reservoir, a popular recreation and conservation site west of the city, is now under threat as crews continue to defend the region.

The incident comes as experts raise fresh concerns about how wind turbine farms and transmission lines could hinder future aerial firefighting. An experienced pilot warned that such infrastructure could make it “nearly impossible” to conduct waterbombing operations during bushfire emergencies.

With Queensland edging closer to peak bushfire season, authorities stress the importance of vigilance and adherence to safety warnings.
